Describe you band, telling a little about it.
Echoing the eerie reverberations of hard rock heavyweights such as Black Sabbath and Pentagram, mixed with the Classic Rock style of Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd, Brimstone Coven has created a vintage sound and style all our own.

What are your names? / Who plays what?
"Big John" Williams - Vocals
Corey Roth - Guitar
Andrew D'Cagna - Bass
Justin Wood - Drums

Have members players played with any other bands?  We were all in bands before Brimstone Coven. The four of us were in a Melodic Death Metal band called Entropy. We all played different instruments.

Do you write your own music or perform covers?Has it always been this way?  It started with 5 originals and 5 Black Sabbath covers. After a year or so, we started incorporating more originals and taking out the covers.

What year did the band form?   2011

Where are you from?  Wheeling, WV

What's your style of genre?  We play Dark Occult Rock

What inspires you?  The dark and mysterious. Things most people are afraid of.

How often  do you rehearse?  Once a week

Do you have other interests of work outside the band?  Not really

Do you utilize a booking agency, and what are your thoughts around that?  We are currently in the process of looking for a booking agent. They would have the proper contacts to set up a nice run of shows.

Are you looking for a label, and what are your thoughts around that?  We have been signed to Metal Blade Records since 2014

What are your songs about?  The Dark and Mysterious. Evil but beautiful.

Who does the composing and writes the lyrics?Corey

Do you start with the music or the lyrics?  Music

Do you compose in a certain enviroment?  Mainly in the jam room. Which you can see in the "Black Magic" music video.

Have you done any covers live?  Several Black Sabbath and one Cream

What are the least and most people to attend one of your gigs?  Goodfellas Bar and Grill in McMechen WV. We just had a CD release party there and reached max capacity.

What ages are most of your concert attendants?  20 and up. I met a sixty year old that drove 7 hours to see us play because we reminded him of his teenage days.

Do you always play the same songs live, or do you vary?  We try not to keep the same set list.

Do you have a regular place you play live often?
Goodfellas

What was your first gig like?  Played with two other bands. They were way heavier than us. So we didn't really fit the bill. We still ended up with a great crowd response.

What was your latest gig?  CD release party at Goodfellas

Have you had to cancel a gig?  Never

Where have you played live this year?  Goodfellas

Where do you plan to gig the coming year?  All over

When did you start to sell merchandise, and what do you have for sale?  About 6 months in we got cds and one shirt design. Now we have cds, several designs of shirts, banners, patches, stickers, vinyl, etc.

What do you think about people downloading music instead of buying records now a days?
I don't feel there's any way of stopping it. But the bands don't receive any money from it. So, it's shitty.

How do you think the music industry have changed because of this?  Less in sales means the labels can't pay the bands as much add they used to.

Do you have any role models or idols?  Through the band,  we have several. Too many to list.

Is it easier to find inspiration from older bands, or bands that are more active today?  We will always pull inspiration from the classics.  But there are a few bands out right now that we idolize as well. They are carrying the torch quite well.

What have been your biggest obstacles?  Knock in wood,  it's been pretty smooth.  The biggest that I can think of,  would have to be losing Justin back in 2012. Teaching the new dime the material,  getting used to the new groove.

What advice would you give other bands or artists?  Don't stop. Don't listen to some 40 year old,  living in his grandma's basement, thinking he knows music and what sucks. Fuck him!  You know what's good because it makes you feel good performing it. 

How do you get psyched for a gig?  Knowing we are having a gig is enough to pump us up.

Do you have any new material?  Even though we JUST released "Black Magic", Corey had 8 or so propped up for the next album.

What are your plans for the future?  Full US tour and playing abroad.

What is one thing even your biggest fans don't know about the band?   Justin's cowbell was taken from his Grandfather's award winning cow.
